On Father’s Day

Here’s to the donor,
although he’s not “Dad.”
He played a big part
in the baby I had.

That baby is gone–
the toddler, too.
She’s an adolescent now.
The time? It just flew.

When I look at my daughter,
more beautiful each day,
I’m so grateful to him,
a debt I never can repay.

So, here’s to you, good fellow,
wherever you may be–
On Fathers’ Day, a toast
and a thank you from me.
