As the founder and one of the leaders of Reproductive Medicine Associates of Connecticut’s (RMACT) SingleMomstoBe program, I want to share with you our vision for how our program can work for you to create your family.
The presentation is specially created to start a conversation, which will include input from you. Because this is a live event, we will have a chance to meet each other in person and answer questions you have in a comprehensive way. Plan on hearing specifics on medical and technical aspects:
Ooyctye or egg freezing (much in the media these days)
In vitro fertilization – IVF
You may be very familiar with these terms or they may be brand new. Either way, I will be able to fill-in details about these family building procedures. Although being online or using a webinar has some advantages, there is no replacement for meeting face-to-face and being able to ask a question in real time.
Our other speakers, Lisa Schuman, LCSW (Director of RMACT’s Psychological Services) and Jane Mattes, LCSW (Founder of Single Mothers by Choice) are champions in this field and have been for many years. They will present valuable and pertinent information, based on all those years of experience as well as in working specifically with single women who subsequently became mothers. Their focus and point of view have evolved into creating a supportive model for women to move ahead in creating their families. They are very aware of the process of transition from questioning to moving ahead and can help you move along in that process. Lisa and Jane will be sharing their vision and expertise with you and can answer your questions.
We understand there are specific concerns you’ll have starting your family as a single woman. This event will provide substantive information, including an overview of what you need to know about this exciting process. Hearing the information in a clear and concise way will go a long way to alleviate any apprehensions you may experience as you move along in your journey.
There will also be other single moms to be at our event, with which you can network, share concerns, ask questions and compare notes. Getting to know other women who are making similar choices to yours can provide an opportunity to create community for peer support. There’s nothing like other women to flesh out your support system!
This event is about information, education, support, help and questions. There is no hard sell. We are here for you and about you. The talks and environment will be relaxed. What we really want is to help you turn your dreams of a family into a reality.
While you may not be creating your family with a partner, we want you to know that you will be not be alone. We are here to help and look forward to meeting you and sharing the information that we know will make your journey towards a family smoother and more efficient.
