Consultations with Jane Mattes, LCSW
The decision about whether or not to become a single mother by choice is one of life’s most important ones, and a professional consultation can assist you in sorting out the many complex issues that surround it. From the initial phase of contemplating whether or not to become an SMC, to the concerns that arise while trying to conceive or adopt, and throughout the parenting years, speaking with an expert can be a great help.
Jane Mattes, L.C.S.W., a NYC psychotherapist and single mother by choice, founded Single Mothers by Choice (SMC) in 1981 after having her son, Eric, in 1980. Jane was a pioneer in the area of single motherhood by choice, and over the past 35 years she has met with and counseled thousands of women who are thinking about, or have chosen, single motherhood.
In addition to overseeing the growth of SMC and maintaining a private practice in psychotherapy, Jane has written the book, Single Mothers by Choice: A Guidebook for Single Women Who Are Considering, or Have Chosen Motherhood, and has co-authored several research papers on donor families.
If you are interested in scheduling a phone or in-person consultation with Jane, write and let us know (SMCfirstname.lastname@example.org). We will contact you to arrange an appointment time.
